If it were up to me they would go the opposite direction as a software company. Broadly speaking, to predict the manner in which I prefer to speak would require far more resources than they would ever allocate. Imagination is not their strong suit – no offense to creative programmers intended. Predictive text, if used, limits the conversation to a box only as big as a programmers imagination and literary ambition. Unfortunately, it seems to me that the programmers job is made simpler when the human conversation is simpler. Weirdly, if it is in the “recent” list, it will attach without complaint.Īdd onto this the horrible, cluttered interface in Outlook these days (so much white space and other huge elements) that make e-mail navigation a pain on a small screen and I can’t help think that fixing basic issues like these and improving the accessibility of the programs should be a far higher priority than a feature which 99% of people will probably just disable. Thus forcing me to close the spreadsheet, attach it, then re-open it again. I’m also sick of the recent bug in Outlook that won’t let you attach a document to an e-mail if it is open in another window. Quite why the server processing seems to share the same thread as the UI is beyond me. Outlook still loves to hang for several seconds at a time if there’s any issue accessing a mailbox (particularly a problem if you have several mailboxes open, or if your VPN connection temporarily drops). Now You: Have you tried Ventoy recently? What is your experience with the tool?Īm I the only one that wishes that MS would instead focus on fixing some of the more glaring issues with their software before implementing silly new gimmicks like this? Support for secure boot, wim images, and unattended installations have improved it significantly. One of its main appeals is that you put ISO images directly on the device instead of having to extract them, another that it supports multiple ISO images. Ventoy is a powerful tool to create bootable USB devices. Last but not least, support improved for new ISO images. Persistence supports more than one persistence backed image file in the new release, and auto-installation allows you to specify more than one auto installation script for an ISO file. The system using the native Windows bootloader (legacy + UEFI), and it is possible to customize the configuration using the bcd file.īoth persistence and auto-installation plugins were updated. It allows you to boot directly from disk without any additional memory requirements. It adds support for booting wim files directly (legacy BIOS and UEFI). The latest version of Ventoy introduced several new features and improvements. It too requires editing a JSON configuration file to enable unattended deployment support. You can check out the documentation on the Ventoy website for instructions on how to do that.Īuto-installation works similarly. The process is slightly complicated as it is necessary to edit a JSON file to define a persistence array. Ventoy supports persistence for select Linux distributions. Persistence support allows users to save changes made to a Live system. Other changes include support for changing the filesystem of the first partition (ntfs/udf/xfs/ext2/ext3/ext4), persistence support for various Linux distributions such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint, and support for auto-installation. Ventoy 1.0.07 introduced support for Secure Boot. One of the biggest changes was introduced just days after my initial release. The interface has not changed all that much, but functionality has improved significantly. The latest version, released just two days ago, is Ventoy 1.0.12. My initial review looked at Ventoy 1.0.06. That sounds an awful lot like what established programs such as Rufus do at first, but when you realize that it puts the ISO images on the drive and does not extract them, it becomes interesting.Įven better, it is possible to place multiple ISO images on the USB device after it has been prepared by Ventoy this allows you to boot into different Linux systems or install different versions of Windows straight from a single USB device. Ventoy creates bootable USB devices using ISO images.
